Daniel 5: The Writing On The Wall

Jul 14, 2024    Pastor Dan Hogan

King Belshazzar, in pride, took for himself the things of God and mocked Him so God took away his life and his kingdom. King Belshazzar was having a party with a bunch of his buddies. They start bringing out the gold and silver vessels that were taken from the Temple when they took over Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple. When that happened, a hand appeared and started writing on the wall a message to the king. This terrifies him, so he calls in his pagan “wise men” to figure out what the message says, but they don’t have a clue. The king’s wife overhears the commotion, comes in, and says that the king should call for Daniel to figure it out. Daniel comes, chastises the king for being lifted up in pride like his father was, and not humbling himself like his father finally did. He then gives him the translation, that his kingdom is about finished, he hasn’t pleased God, and his kingdom will be divided and given to the Medes and the Persians. That very night, the prophecy came to be.
