BIBLE TEACHINGS:

In 1965 Pastor Chuck Smith began his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Only 25 people had attended. What began as a small chapel grew into a church that seats over 2000 and is filled almost nightly. From the beginning, Pastor Chuck welcomed all—young and old—without judgement, placing his emphasis on the teaching of the Word of God.
God graciously used Pastor Chuck to reach a generation of hippies and surfers; generating a movement of the Holy Spirit that spread from the west coast to the east, bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ. Pastor Chuck extended his teaching nationally through The Word for Today radio program, as well as internationally over the Internet at CalvaryChapel.com.
Pastor Chuck went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2013. Yet, the work that the Holy Spirit started with Pastor Chuck did not end that day; but continues forth in this generation and the next as people continue to seek Christ, teach His Word and avail themselves to the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit. 

Jon Courson is the founding pastor of Applegate Christian Fellowship and a well-known speaker and author. Jon has a passion for sharing the blessing of an intimate walk with Jesus and the wonder of His grace.

Pastor Jack Abeelen was raised in a Catholic home and attended parochial school from elementary grades through high school. At the age of 18 he heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ presented at a home study of a friend with whom he had grown up. In 1972 he gave his life to Christ and God began to work in his heart and call him to Himself. In 1980 Jack was given the opportunity to join a church staff as an assisting pastor and in 1985 went out to plant what today is the church he still pastors, Morningstar Christian Chapel in Whittier CA., a Calvary Chapel affiliate church. His gift of teaching is clearly seen in the easy and yet relevant way he communicates the Word of God.
He pays attention to context, resorts to biblical examples to teach principles and is confident that God’s Word will never go out void but will accomplish whatever God sends it for (Isa.55:10-13), one of His life verses. Pastor Jack’s teaching ministry can be heard throughout the US daily with his program: “Growing thru Grace” which airs on over 400 stations and is dedicated to the plain exposition of God’s Word. His desire is that those who hear his message might turn to the God who loves them and His only Son, Jesus Christ, who He sent to save them from their sins. Pastor Jack is married to his wife Debbie. He has two sons, Jacob and David, two beautiful daughter-in- laws, Christy and Cheri, and five grandchildren, Ashley, Connor, Haley, Carter, and Claire.

Skip Heitzig ministers to over 15,000 people as senior pastor of Calvary Albuquerque. He reaches out to thousands across the nation and throughout the world through his multimedia ministry including a nationwide half-hour radio program, Connect with Skip Heitzig. He is the author of several books including Defying Normal, You Can Understand the Book of Revelation, and How to Study the Bible and Enjoy It. He has also published over two dozen booklets in the Lifestyle series, covering aspects of Christian living. He serves on several boards, including Samaritan's Purse and Harvest.

Mike started Horizon Christian Fellowship 41 years ago and on June 7th, 2015 passed the baton to his son Phillip MacIntosh who now serves as Pastor over Horizon. Over one hundred churches and para-church organizations have grown out of this congregation worldwide, as well as Horizon Christian Academy, a preschool through high school educational system and Horizon University that currently enrolls over 1,000 students.

He committed his life to the Lord in 1980 at Calvary Chapel Napa California at the age of 25. he had previously been employed as a cable splicer with the phone company. His family moved from Napa to Modesto in June of 1985 to plant a Calvary Chapel with the blessing of his home church.

Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia began in 1981 when Pastor Joe Focht started a small Bible study in a catering hall. With a strong emphasis on teaching God’s Word verse by verse, the church has grown to minister to approximately 12,000 people weekly with a variety of outreaches and ministries.
Pastor Joe currently teaches three Sunday morning services along with evening services on Sunday and Wednesday. His daily Bible teaching ministry, “Straight from the Heart”, is heard in Philadelphia on 560 AM WFIL – 7:30AM weekdays.
In 40 years of ministry on the East Coast, Joe and his wife Cathy have seen their family grow from children to grandchildren while their spiritual family continues to grow.
